Hi! My name’s Yasmine. I’m the Supervisor at Lucky Voice Brighton and I’m approaching my fourth year at Brighton University. My signature tune is ‘Be My Baby’ by The Ronettes, it’s my favourite song to sing at work AND it’s also from one of my favourite films, Dirty Dancing. For me, Brighton is one of the most freeing and individual cities in the world so for this blogpost, I wanted to share a few of my favourite hidden gems as well as the rest of the team’s. When we’re not all at Lucky Voice, we often spend time with each other outside of work and pop in to see whoever is working, it really is like a little family!
1. Snoopers Paradise
Snoopers Paradise is filled to the brim with random objects and items that you never knew you needed until you saw them in this large antique bric-brac store. This exciting shop is rife with goodies, and one person’s junk is another person’s treasure. Whether you’re looking for antiques, taxidermy or a well-read copy of a classic novel, Snoopers has it all!
2. Marwoods
With a wild range of delicious cakes, refreshing Aperol sorbet and fresh coffee, Marwoods is the perfect place for a chill out with friends in the afternoon or drinks in the evening. With Bowie often playing in the background, the strange but endearing décor adds to the 80’s vibe, making it the place to visit.
3. Komedia
Komedia is a premier live entertainment venue in the heart of Brighton Laines, voted the best venue in the South a whopping 14 times! Komedia offers a variety of events ranging from intimate gigs to the popular and entertaining Comedy Club, everything that your inner Art student desires.
4. La Choza
Hidden away, La Choza is home to some of Brighton’s most delicious Mexican street food, this vibrant restaurant is a firm favourite for Lucky Voice staff and Brighton residents. Alongside mouth-watering food, La Choza is popular for its exciting and friendly atmosphere, and is the perfect place to experiment with tequila fresh from distillation.
5. Cafe Coho
Café Coho is one of mine and Thomas’ favourite little cafes, situated right in the heart of Brighton. They serve the most delicious sweet treats, and it’s also a great little study spot during exam period. No matter how busy it is inside, the atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxing.
