Karaoke was invented in Japan in 1971, where Daisuke Inoue created the first karaoke-style machine. It quickly spread through the rest of Asia, taking hold of the world's clubs and lounges by the 1990s.
STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM
Inspired by a 24 hour karaoke marathon in Japan, Lucky Voice founders Martha Lane Fox, Nick Thistleton, Julian Douglas and Jonny Shaw decided they had to bring the life-affirming joy they'd discovered back to the UK, and in the summer of 2005 Lucky Voice Soho opened its doors.
ONE STEP BEYOND
Venues followed in Islington, then Brighton and most recently Holborn. We continued spreading the joys of karaoke far and wide, growing a franchise and licensing business to add private karaoke rooms into venues as varied as clubs, theme parks, hotels, and beyond.
RETURN OF THE MACK
Following in the steps of Daisuke Inoue, we launched our own Karaoke Kits in Harrods in 2009 so that the party doesn't have to stop once you've left our venues. We now retail throughout the UK, and have sites across the world. We're on a mission to bring the love of singing out in everyone, and we're glad so many of you have joined us for the ride already!
