Who doesn't love a Bank Holiday? There's nothing quite like an extra day off work where you're basically being paid to go out and have fun with your friends. And when it comes to the league table of bank holidays, the undisputed champion of them all has to be the Easter Bank Holiday – hello, four day weekend? Yes please!

Along with the joy of four glorious alarm-free mornings, one of the best things about the Easter Bank Holiday is the plethora of awesome shindigs, banquets and hootenannies going on in B-town. So, without further ado: from Alice In Wonderland-themed horse racing to a silent disco in the sky, these are the five best events going on in Brighton over the Easter Bank Holiday.

1) Back a winner at Brighton Racecourse

Brighton Racecourse kicks off its season on the Saturday of the Easter Bank Holiday with a wonderland of entertainment themed around Lewis Carroll's Alice stories. Along with an exciting schedule of seven flat races, there's also live music, street performers and a secret cocktail bar to discover. And as if all that isn't enough, there are also prizes up for grabs for 'best hat' – curiouser and curiouser!

April 20th, 2.30-8pm. Book your tickets here: brighton-racecourse.co.uk

2) Double your money at Lucky Voice Brighton

Throughout the Easter bank holiday you can get a £100 bar tab for only £50 at Lucky Voice Brighton when you pre-book one of the venue's private karaoke rooms. Along with 10,000+ karaoke anthems to choose from, each room comes with a fancy dress prop box and room service provided at the flex of a digit through a fun 'Thirsty' button. There's also a basement cocktail bar with a live DJ on weekends if you're after a post-sing boogie.

April 19-22, 3/6pm – 2am. Book your tickets here: luckyvoice.com

3) Cut a rug at Bad Pond Festival

Bad Pond Festival returns to Brighton's iconic beachfront for the fourth year in a row over the bank holiday weekend. This year will be the biggest and best so far for the 'left-field and experimental music festival' with a new, larger location in Concorde 2 and a line up boasting Three Trapped Tigers, Jamie Lenman and Tangled Hair to name but a few.

April 20-21, 2-10pm. Grab your tickets here: badpondfestival.co.uk

4) Throw some shapes above the Brighton skyline on the BA i360

Wyld Events will be throwing one of their infamous silent discos aboard the British Airways i360 on the Friday of Easter Bank Holiday. Guests can look forward to a four hour silent disco boogaloo in the venue's beachfront event rooms plus a 45 minute flight up and down in the i360's glass viewing pod. It's not every day you get the chance to bust a move or two on an observation deck 162 metres in the sky!

April 19, 7.30-11.45pm. Get your tickets here: wyldevents.co.uk

5) Round your weekend off with some rock 'n' roll at Fightback Festival

The end of the Easter Bank Holiday sees the start of Fightback Festival's two week live music marathon. Fightback is a grassroots organisation that aims to encourage audiences to visit their local music venues as well as promote emerging and existing musical talent. The first day of the festival sees Def Kids, Rakta and Grymm perform at The Hope & Ruin.
